I’m not sleepy tonight so I’ve been reading the work of other writers and poets and I stumbled upon a writing prompt called “One Word“. The site gives a word prompt and 60 seconds to write about it. “Don’t think, just write”, it says. So I tried it and I have to say only having 60 seconds really makes you focus. The word today was delicate and this is what I wrote:

The delicate chain of silver was wrapped tightly around her neck.

The flesh shone purple and puffed slightly from the constriction.

He slipped the pliers underneath and snipped it off and put it in his pocket.

Here you can read other writers interpretation of “delicate”. Apparently I took a darker direction than most.
