I love the space of time before a storm when the clouds are running across the sky and the wind is screaming through the streets. As a kid, I used to sit on the carport and watch the trees, their branches waving wildly in an Earth Dance, leaves chattering like skeleton teeth. The earth is gathering itself for a storm today. I stood outside for a while letting the wind toss my hair, pull at my clothes, beguiling me with its Earth Dance. I’ve never been afraid of storms, but, always felt at home in them. The primal pull feels familiar. It’s like earth, human, and animal are all one – sharing and expending energy, getting it all out of our systems so we can dwell in peace again. For a while.
