In a few days I’ll be closing this blog to make some changes. Every so often I get a bug up my butt and feel like shaking things up on the old blog, so there ya go.
Some things I’m considering doing are:
- Changing the name from Zouxzoux to my name, Charlotte Hamrick.
- Making the first page static and having it be an “About” page.
- Making a page for photography.
- Hiding all the old poetry and only showing published work.
- Possibly keeping a page for miscellaneous blogging. I haven’t made up my mind on this yet.
What do you think? I could use some input.
I’ve kind of lost interest in writing poetry this summer and I don’t know why. Oh, I’ve written a few new poems but I’m not writing as prolifically as I have in the past. I don’t know why and I’m not going to ruminate over it. I’ve been reading a lot and I’ve started blogging about that on NOLAFemmes as well as posting some of my photography. Right now I’m just more interested in reading creative writing than doing any myself so I’m just going to go with it.
I hope you’ll click over to NOLAFemmes and visit my sister writers and me there. We have a pretty good time. I hope you’ll join us. And I will be back here, later. With improvements.
I like all the changes :). Looking forward to the new look!

Thanks. Actually, I probably won’t close the blog. I’ll just make the changes over the next few days. I’m leaning toward the minimalist look. 🙂

Thats a great idea, I also like that you will post only your published pieces. If my pieces ever get published I’ll do the same 🙂

You should really be submitting some of your writing, R.K. I have no doubt it would be accepted.

Change is good. Will you just remove all the poetry or make it private? I have a similar situation. Though I love the name Zoux-zoux.

I’m thinking I might just make all the poetry either private or put them in draft status. I don’t want to delete them completely.
Might keep Zouxzoux and buy the domain name under my name. I’m still pondering. 🙂

I’m in a similar boat, though not published like you. I’m thinking of using my pen for my youth writing and then using my real name for the next story. I’d like to keep my gardenlilie n other blog name as I like them. Thanks for your input.

Interesting ideas. I ended up doing the opposite with my blog–only posting unpublished stuff and then taking it down if and when an editor accepts it.
I had a similar burnout about a year ago with poetry; you might want to consider looking into other genres and see if it sparks anything. You might also need to take a break from writing and try a completely different art form.

Well I have 7 years of stuff on here and my writing has changed a lot since I began the blog. I don’t feel like it represents me now plus no one looks at all that old stuff anyway. (Thank God!) I’m just ready for a change.
Trying a different art form is a good idea which is why I may get back into photography and have a page for it. There’s no shortage of cool things to photograph in New Orleans.

Hey Boo. I’ve been in a similar state of mind. Whatever you choose, please keep a blogging tab. 🙂
