NaPoWriMo Day 27

Moon over my back yard, 2011

Pink Moon

5 a.m. & the moon looms large

in my pollen-streaked window,

tree branches knocking across

her surface. It’s been ages since

I’ve been awake in this early morning

hour, I’ve forgotten how solid the night

can be, empty of ghosts in the closet

and monsters under the bed –

they only seem to hover when sleep is

elusive. Perhaps they disappear

in the pool of our dreams, lulled

by the tranquility of the pink moon.

Y’all, it’s getting harder and harder to write coherently! I am struggling so bear with me for the next four days. I’ve been participating in NaPoWriMo since 2011 but this will be the first year I actually posted every day of the month. If I make it! *Fingers crossed*

  1. Yeah, you will do it! Three more days!

I love to be awake with you early and look at the pink moon that we didn’t get to see as it was covered. Also, I watched Honour yesterday, after I saw your FB post. Haunting!! Line of Duty next, I think. :)

  2. I feel that way too. We can do it!
I can’t get a good photo of the moon out my new window, but it shines right on my bed and has woken me up each of the last 3 nights. By daybreak it’s moved out of sight though. Yours does look peaceful. (K)
