Today is the seventeenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ida, two storms that left a lot of death and devastation in New Orleans and the extended area.
Recently, I had a Creative Nonfiction piece about Katrina published in Atticus Review, DÉJÀ RÊVÉ IN THE GULF. For a lot of reasons I’ve written very little about the experience. It was difficult to decide what to say and what to leave out but the issue theme was the “The Internet” so I was glad for the parameters.
Many thanks to CNF Editor Rachel Laverdiere and Contributing Editor Lucy Wilde who worked with me to polish the piece. Thanks in advance to you, my friends, if you care to read it. 😊
Wow, this is powerful, Charlotte. Thank you for sharing this incredible story…

So much of this has still never made the news. But you make it visible.
And nice to read something positive about the internet for a change. (K)
