NaPoWriMo & Something Small, Every Day: White Dove & Dancing Bear

White Dove & Dancing Bear

Above the Ferris wheel, a kaleidoscope
At the edge of the planet, a kaleidoscope

On a soft Southern night
Our eyes like stars in a kaleidoscope

Our hands, our hearts tumbled
and grew, colorful as a kaleidoscope

Through hard times and fun times
Our years unfolded like a kaleidoscope

All God’s creatures love & endure
like white dove and dancing bear in a kaleidoscope

Today’s prompt from NaPoWriMo.net is to write a ghazal in the form of a love song. This is my first attempt at a ghazal so I’m giving myself a lot of grace. The mention of white dove at the end is a reference to me (a long ago nickname) which is common in English ghazals, according to the prompt. Dancing Bear was my husband. Way, way back in the day those were our CB radio handles. Young’uns may have to Google that!

My “Something Small, Every Day (or so)” series is inspired by Austin Kleon’s piece here where he says, “Building a body of work (or a life) is all about the slow accumulation of a day’s worth of effort over time.”
