NaPoWriMo & Something Small, Every Day: A Hundred Kinds of Flowers

A Hundred Kinds of Flowers: A Cento

Break open
and never close again.
Every morning I want to
kneel down, still
in love with life, the piece
of God that is inside
of each of us.
I don’t know exactly what
a prayer is, I do know how
to pay attention. If
it is your nature to be happy
you will swim away, your
imagination alighting
everywhere.

Cento created from the following Mary Oliver poems:

  1. Lead
  2. On Thy Wondrous Works I Will Meditate
  3. Self-Portrait
  4. The Summer Day
  5. Morning Poem
  6. Franz Marc’s Blue Horses
  7. Title from 1945-1985: Poem for the Anniversary
