I want to listen to the wind.
I turn off the lamp and snuggle
in my bed underneath
an extra blanket, my feet
warm in socks that go
abandoned in summer.
I wriggle my toes against
the enclosed softness and
watch the shadows of the
palms sway behind the curtains.
All is still save for the
swishing of the wind and
the wriggling of my toes.
I like this very much. I love the last stanza…and I find myself wiggling my toes and listening for the wind.;

Thanks! Our first cold front of the season came early this year. Usually it doesn’t really get cold until after Christmas. I love soft, warm socks when my feet are cold!

I really enjoyed this poem because you captured me perfectly. I smiled as i read it. I quickly shed my socks in the summer and enjoy barefoot toe wiggling.
