The In-Between Time

The in-between time falls in soft silence,

cloudy blue is the color of its’ face. A time

of gathering up, of languid

preparation, a slow easing into

the coming darkness. It’s for low laughter

and the clink of wine glasses, night

blooming Jasmine and whispered secrets,

dew covered toes and hidden kisses.

It’s for drawing in and settling

the lessons of the day,

then filing them in a closet in your mind

and closing the door.

  1. ha. i always said i would like to see the stories between the pains in comic books you know…the real life…they are important…between the big events there is a sweet time to live…to remember…and file away what we need…

  2. Oh, I like very much the in between time….the time between day and night, the time between one event and another. Much of the good of life takes place in the in between time…..before the darkness falls.

  3. Time between time is indeed important and ought not to be overlooked. I like the idea of using it for ‘languid preparation’ or for ‘low laughter’ or wine. I also very much enjoyed the atmosphere of your poem.

  4. Well..this reminds me of the song Twilight by E.L.O.

Threading the halls of sanity..and hoping to go on…

Never meeting the difference..between night and day..

Moving only with Twilight ..beyond light or dark of existence….

FinAlly falling asleep..only to wait for twilight again….to meet between..
dreams and that which IS DREAM..

I need a lot of “in between” days. Sigh. Very romantic.
