Runaway Money
In her suitcase, a secret
It simmers
in this just-in-case journey
down a dusty gravel road
after the last straw was tornadoed
away with constant interruptions
& missing the point was thrown
at her with mindless power
Seven miles worth of bubbling plans
& blisters is worth
every
painful
step
even if
her destination is a dump -
She can clean
she can rub everything
shiny, new, & free
It’s been a few years since I participated in NaPoWriMo so I thought I’d combine it with my Something Small, Every Day practice. Like my practice, it probably won’t be every day but we’ll see.
I began by reading the prompt on NaPoWriMo.net and choosing to use the glossary of art terms recommended. But, I fell into a photography rabbit hole and ended up in an exhibit of unidentified photographers where the above photo grabbed my attention. I wondered what was happening in that photo and so I imagined it. (Use of photo allowed under Fair Use)
My “Something Small, Every Day (or so)” series is inspired by Austin Kleon’s piece here where he says, “Building a body of work (or a life) is all about the slow accumulation of a day’s worth of effort over time.”

What a lovely way to use the prompt and the resources of the prompt, I like how you gave the photograph your own story.

I know so many who could (and in some cases did) step into those shoes/feet. (K)
