the sun teases
cold weary hibernators
lusting for palm fronds
throwing shadows
onto patio bricks,
the cutting wind is alien
in the land of temperate
breezes, the icy rain
unwelcome as we cover
our heads in fleece-lined
hoodies, cursing whatever
god guided winter weather
in the wrong direction while
our shorts and tank tops wait
impatiently for southern-kissed
skin

I don’t envy you your brutal weather. Great writing here, as usual.

Sorry to hear you are having harsher than usual weather. We are slowly frosting into impeccable immortality over here – had to scrape the car every morning for the past week.

ha. i remember living in florida…we never got snow that far south…there were a few days when the temperature dropped way low and you def had to wonder what was up…ha…yes, not what you expect…global warming maybe? smiles.

We had a sharp bite of winter this morning – bitter, bitter, bitter. Your poem describes it perfectly.

Thanks to all for reading and commenting. This was a cleaned up version of how I really feel about cold weather, lol! We’re usually in shorts in December, our coldest is normally in Jan and Feb. brrrrrrrr!

I liked this very much that you long for the weather we in Australia are having at this time. Beautifully written.
