I will never,ever,ever

have a tidy coffee table like you see in those chichi design magazines. Mine is always covered with books, magazines, DVD’s, CD’s, iPad, journal and, at various times, dog biscuits, remote controls, plates of crumbs and cups of half-finished tea. I love the minimal look of a coffee table with only an object or two but that will never happen here for more than a few minutes when I dust and put things away. I need my books and reading material close by.  The book you see there, “New Orleans Style”, will be reviewed here soon. I hope. I intend.  … Continue reading I will never, ever, ever

Morning Meditation 1/3/15: Not Resolutions

Intentions written on a foggy morning in January patiently wait for the sunshine of action. I’m writing a list of intentions for the year. I don’t do resolutions because they come with stern fingers that demand attention. Then when you falter the guilt niggles in the back of your mind. That’s not for me, thank you. But, a new year does naturally get you thinking about what your wants and dreams are because it is a kind of new slate. Wherein I Thank Everybody

2014 was a really good writing year for me. I reached a couple of loose goals I set for myself and was on the receiving end of some unexpected surprises. One micro-fiction, “Something About SW”,  was chosen as a finalist for the 15th Glass … Continue reading Wherein I Thank Everybody

What is most important

Morning Meditation 12/22/14: Stretching

A couple of months ago I bought a new bird feeder because the birds were making a mess underneath the old one. They were spilling (and wasting) more seed than they were eating. The new one promised to be “spill proof” and although it’s not 100% spill proof, I’d say it’s about 95% which is a big improvement. But it took the birds almost two weeks to  begin feeding from it. I think it was because of the different shape of it – it has a domed cover and a little ledge above the feeding tray, I guess to thwart … Continue reading Morning Meditation 12/22/14: Stretching
