Hot Reads, Etc.

There’s so much good reading and listening on the Internet it’s overwhelming. How do you choose which piece to read, which podcast to listen to, which video to watch? And I’m always wondering if I’ve missed some really fantastic thing. In just the past few days I’ve read some really good stuff and, this morning, watched a very cool Periscope post by Indian chef Kalyan Karmakar. Do you watch Periscope? I downloaded the app a while ago but have only watched a couple of Lonely Planet posts. But when I logged on today there was a notification that this was streaming … Continue reading Hot Reads, Etc.

Fancy Feet Friday: St. Vincent

So. Once again I’ve found a great cover of an old classic. This time it’s St. Vincent doing  a funked up version of The Stones’ “Emotional Rescue” from the soundtrack of A Bigger Splash. The movie looks like fun. Tilda Swinton! Ray Finnes! Love! Duplicity! And all on the beautiful Italian coast! We must see it. Oh, and if  all the music is as funked  up as this, well….. we’ll need some funkalicious dancing shoes. Have a great week-end, y’all!       Continue reading Fancy Feet Friday: St. Vincent

Fancy Feet Friday

I haven’t posted any music in a long time so I thought I’d share this great vid a Facebook friend posted recently. I’m a pretty big H&O fan so there aren’t too many covers get my approval but this one definitely does. It’s so fresh and free-spirited it makes me want to jump in the car for a road trip. So why not slow down a few minutes, close your eyes, and take an imaginary road trip until you can do the real thing. I think you’ll smile as big as I did when I first heard it. A … Continue reading Fancy Feet Friday

Charlotte’s Top Five

It’s end/beginning of year – list time! Although list posts are multiplying like rabbits online, I’ll go ahead and post my second annual Top Fives in books, movies, TV, and music. Note that these are not books, movies, TV, and music that debuted in 2015 but my personal Top Fives which means, although I’m not a slave to current pop culture, I am highly interested in good books, good movies, good TV, and good music regardless of when it was created. In addition, I’m posting my Top Five wanna-sees and wanna-reads for 2016. Wanna-listen is dependent upon mood. Here we … Continue reading Charlotte’s Top Five

5 Catagories of 5 Things That Rocked My 2014

Inspired by The Tavern Lantern’s “Year End Top Ten” feature, which I’ve been enjoying very much, I decided to make my own Top Five Lists. Consisting of five instead of ten items because I’m into shorter, smaller, more minimal. And I think some list posts are too long. (Not counting TL’s.) So, here we go. 5 Lit Journals and/or Zines I Read Regularly in 2014 Literary Orphans Connotation Press Blue Fifth Review: Blue Five Notebook Series Whiskey Paper Luna Luna 5 Blogs I Read Regularly in 2014 Roxane Gay’s Blog (Although, lately there’s less blogging and more linkage to her … Continue reading 5 Catagories of 5 Things That Rocked My 2014

Defenseless Anatomy

Come out upon my seas Cursed missed opportunities Am I a part of the cure? Or am I part of the disease? — “Clocks” by Coldplay Defenseless Anatomy And I’m there in the shadows of the sun, the humid air curling the hair on the nape of my neck, your hands curled around my waist as the wind ruffles the wild grass around our ankles. Us, caught in moments that passed so quickly never to be played the same way again. Was it part of the cure? The long weeks that ripped the skin of our intimacy? Maybe the disease … Continue reading Defenseless Anatomy
